Yesterday, Opcharge in Tilburg municipality officially opened the first charging plaza with innovative charging lamp posts, next to the Reeshof Health Center.

Opcharge is the initiator, investor and operator of this location and is providing full realization and management. The charging lamp posts – developed in cooperation with technology partner CityCharge – combine public lighting with charging points for electric vehicles. Eight cars can charge simultaneously at four lampposts, without adding additional objects to the public space.

According to Opcharge founder Freddy van Nispen, this project shows how sustainable mobility can be scalable:
“We invest in these locations ourselves and take all the worry out of the hands of municipalities. This is how we make sustainable mobility feasible, affordable and appropriate within the streetscape.”

Smart energy distribution efficiently distributes available power, which helps avoid grid congestion and leads to a carbon reduction of about 58 percent per site.

The official opening was performed by Alderman Bas van der Pol (Urban Development/Circular Economy).
