The conditions from the municipality
The fact that electric driving is becoming increasingly popular is also evident to the city of Leiden. In fact, Leiden is among the fastest growing cities in the Netherlands when it comes to the increase in the number of electric vehicles. To keep everything within limits, the city of Leiden has set a number of conditions for the placement of business/public charging points. The established conditions are shown below.
- The applicant must reside or work in the municipality of Leiden.
- The applicant has an all-electric vehicle (two- or four-wheeled) or a plug-in hybrid vehicle at his or her disposal (four-wheeled).
- There is not yet a public charging station within 350 meters of the applicant’s downtown residential address or 200 meters of the applicant’s residential address outside the canals.
- As an applicant, you do not have the option of installing a charging station on your own property.

Location determination according to traffic decree

As mentioned above, Opcharge does a site check before the application. If this shows that the power supply is not strong enough to operate the charging point, this power supply must be reinforced. These costs are charged to the business customer or the municipality. In most cases, the power connection simply meets the appropriate conditions and the electric car charging point is installed. In that case, the charging fees are the only costs you have to incur as a user of the charging station. With Opcharge, you pay only per kWh consumed.
