Opcharge and its installation partner Rechrg is partnering with the Church of England to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure across its portfolio.

The Church of England is supporting churches in drawing up action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions year-on-year, achieving net zero by 2030. This effort comes at a crucial time when the UK government has set an ambitious target of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“The Church of England can play a key part in the journey to net zero through example and leadership, but this must be through actions as well as through our words. The installation of new EV chargers is another step on our journey towards net zero carbon emissions.” – Rt Revd Dr Steven Croft, Bishop of Oxford

Partnering with Opcharge to install EV charging across suitable Church of England premises will contribute towards decarbonising transportation to and from Church property, making significant strides towards the 2030 target. It will also address concerns about range anxiety for church staff and visitors who are EV owners.

“At Opcharge we are passionate about the importance of having an accessible and convenient public charging network for everyone. As more consumers adopt electric vehicles, the demand for reliable and sustainable charging solutions will continue to grow. We are a company dedicated to promoting sustainability and innovation, and we believe that charge point operators play a key role in decarbonisingthe future of transportation within the UK at the rate required to reach our Net Zero goals. ” – Thomas Herbert, Managing Director of Opcharge UK.
