The charging infrastructure in the Netherlands is going through a major overhaul in the coming decades. The number of charging stations in the Netherlands has already increased significantly in recent years. Different types of charging infrastructure are available, such as charging points for private individuals, charging points for businesses and public charging points. The number of charging stations should reach 1.9 million by 2030. So there is still a lot of work to be done. On this page we tell you more about the charging infrastructure in the Netherlands and the National Agenda for Charging Infrastructure.
The Netherlands is facing a gigantic change in electric mobility in the near future. In the last coalition agreement it was decided that from 2030 all new cars should drive emission-free. But how big is this change and what exactly does it look like? You can read about that below.
To chart this change, the National Charging Infrastructure Agenda has figures on the growing charging infrastructure. Over the years, that number of electric cars on Dutch roads is going to rise to a total of as many as 1.9 million. To power this large number of electric vehicles, an all-electric infrastructure of 1.7 million charging stations is needed. The new charging stations will be divided between fast charging points and normal charging points. This ratio will eventually be %/85% where the majority belongs to the normal charging points.
To reach this number, 550 charging stations must be installed daily for our electric vehicles. By 2030, as many as 1,400 charging stations must be installed daily to supply electric drivers. All these adjustments should lead to the Netherlands emitting half as much greenhouse gases in 2030 as it did in 1990.
Thanks to our cooperation with municipalities in the area, we arrange everything for you, from installation to maintenance. So you can charge your car with nearby green electricity in no time. Convinced with what contribution you make to a greener future by requesting charging stations and the extra service you offer to your customers and employees? Then don’t hesitate and apply for a charging station through Opcharge today.
Since March 2020, there has been an obligation to install charging infrastructure in the private built environment. As a result, residential buildings with more than ten parking spaces must be equipped with empty conduits. These conduits will be laid for the construction of charging stations in the future. Thus, with this obligation comes more consideration for electric transportation. For non-residential buildings, at least one charging point must be installed for every 20 parking spaces by 2025.
So the charging infrastructure must be structurally expanded to power all EV drivers by 2030. But in which industries does Opcharge operate? Is your industry listed? Then contact Opcharge today and apply for your (public) charging solutions.
Public charging stations are charging stations that are publicly accessible to all EV drivers. The Netherlands currently has about 90,000 public charging stations. The charging infrastructure should therefore increase significantly in the coming years. Opcharge is going to contribute to this by realizing public charging stations. In addition, Opcharge cooperates with several municipalities in the Netherlands. Among others, Tilburg, Breda, Eindhoven, Leiden, Dordrecht and Apeldoorn are in close contact with Opcharge about the application of publicly accessible charging points.
In addition to public charging stations, Opcharge also realizes electric mobility for companies. With a business charging station, you offer your colleagues and customers just that extra bit of service. With the possibility of charging electric cars on your business premises, they can continue their way effortlessly. It is also possible to lease a charging station at Opcharge. In that case, you do not need to own a charging station but have the charging point on loan. Would you like more information about leasing a charging station? Then click here.
Charging infrastructure at retail and hospitality outlets is playing an increasing role in the future of sustainable mobility. Many stores and restaurants have already installed charging stations or an electric vehicle (EV) charging plaza, allowing customers to charge their car while they store or eat. This can add value to customers who have EVs, as it allows them to charge their electric car while visiting a store or restaurant.
The expansion in charging infrastructure in the Netherlands logically also has implications for parking garages. Charging stations will occupy an increasing share of parking garages with so-called charging plazas. These are multiple charging solutions in one place. Ideal for companies with many employees and/or visitors who have electric vehicles.
