Financial Controller

Breda / Rotterdam
32 - 40 hours

Are you a finance professional who looks beyond just the numbers and is energized by growth? At Opcharge, you’ll work in a rapidly growing organization where you’ll have a direct impact and actively help build a scalable financial structure.

About Opcharge

Opcharge is a fast-growing player in the energy transition and focuses on smart charging solutions for municipalities and businesses. As a young and entrepreneurial organization, Opcharge operates without any ties to the fossil fuel industry and is actively building a future with sustainable mobility.

The organization is in a phase of strong growth, with expansion and growth at the forefront. This creates a dynamic environment where processes are constantly evolving and new opportunities arise quickly. New opportunities and roles are constantly emerging at Opcharge, making this position a solid starting point with clear potential for growth toward more senior and strategic roles in finance.

You’ll be joining the finance team and working closely with the CFO and Head of Finance. The team is small, professional, and responsive. The work environment is entrepreneurial and collaborative; colleagues actively seek each other out, have lunch together, and celebrate achievements through quarterly meetings and informal activities, among other things.

The Position

As a Financial Controller, you are responsible for the entire financial administration and play a central role in further professionalizing the financial organization. You ensure reliable financial data and bring structure to a rapidly changing environment.

In addition, you’ll actively work on improving and automating financial processes. You’ll be able to independently identify bottlenecks and turn them into concrete improvements. As the organization grows and responsibilities shift within the team, you’ll have the opportunity to take on more ownership and further develop your role.

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Preparing and performing month-end closings
  • Preparing financial reports and analyses
  • Preparing and Compiling the Financial Statements
  • Processing and Filing VAT Returns
  • Monitoring balance sheet positions and performing controls
  • Support with budgeting and forecasting
  • Preparing the Organization for Mandatory Audits
  • Actively contribute to the automation of financial processes
  • Serve as a key user for financial systems
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders

You play an important role in ensuring the financial organization is prepared for the future, especially in light of the upcoming audit requirement and continued growth.

This role is indispensable because, without it, the financial structure would not grow in step with the organization, which would have a direct impact on decision-making and future scalability.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a finance professional who maintains a broad perspective, takes ownership, and feels comfortable in an environment where not everything is set in stone. You take the initiative to tackle tasks on your own and identify areas for improvement.

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least 5 years of work experience in finance
  • At least 1 to 2 years of experience in a controlling role
  • Experience in financial accounting and month-end closings
  • Experience with year-end closing and preparing for an audit
  • Experience with VAT returns and financial reporting
  • HBO-level work and thinking skills in a financial field

In addition, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • Self-directed and proactive
  • Analytical and organized
  • Quick to pick up new tasks
  • Comfortable in a scale-up environment
  • Focused on process improvement and automation
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with various stakeholders

Terms of Employment

Opcharge offers a role with plenty of room for growth within a rapidly evolving organization. You’ll have the opportunity to actively contribute to the growth and professionalization of the finance department.

Among other things, you can count on:

  • A position for 32 to 40 hours per week
  • Flexible work arrangements are possible, with 2 to 3 days a week in the office
  • Working within a fast-growing and entrepreneurial organization
  • Plenty of room for initiative and process improvement
  • Opportunities for career advancement within a rapidly growing organization
  • Informal and engaging work environment
  • Group activities such as quarterly meetings and team-building events

At Opcharge, new opportunities are constantly emerging as a result of the organization’s strong growth and expansion. This role therefore offers a solid starting point, with realistic opportunities to eventually advance to more senior or managerial positions within finance.
